Spring Puffins

Puffin Island, Penmon. It is nearly time for the puffins to arrive. They usually turn up May/June/July for their romantic assignations but they can be found already ib Beaumaris in the Echo Gallery and Shop.

Sea Zoo

Sea Zoo, Anglesey. This is the frieze I created with children visiting the Sea Zoo in memory of Menai the Olive Ridley turtle. We started with a big paper picture of Menai which we cut into pieces like a jigsaw. The  shell sections, head, limbs etc., were cut out from clay and textured and pieced together by the children. We then attached this to 12 flat square tiles and added seaweed, fish and squid (Menai's favourite food). To read Menai's story click on the link below.

RNLI

RNLI, Beaumaris. Here is the mosaic created at the June RNLI Fun Day 2018. Visitors to the event paid a donation to the RNLI to make a terracotta tile showing what the RNLI means to them. The photo used to create the centre tile is of the Beaumaris crew on board their boat. This now hangs in their Crew Room which you are welcome to visit and see your tile.

Anglesey Archive

Anglesey Archive, LLangeffni. This is the stairwell in The Anglesey Archive Building where these tiles now hang on permanent display. I worked with some brilliant children from Gorwel and Lia Griffiths from Oriel Ynyns Mon to create these tiles. They depict the story of The Royal Charter which was ship wrecked off the coast of Anglesey in 1859. We were able to handle artefacts from the wreck which are held in the Archive and see documents from the time. It was a very poignient project. We condidered what it felt like be on the ship during the storm, who would jump and who would not, what items from the ship would have sunk or floated, what happened the next day and finally the long term affect of this wreck. It was facinating.
